Chosen by the Burlington Free Press to be 2015 Vermonter of the Year, Mary Powell has served as President and Chief Executive Officer for Green Mountain Power Corporation since 2008. She continues to be a visionary leader for the company, implementing changes to combat climate change and reduce carbon emissions. Under her leadership Green Mountain Power built Vermont's largest wind farm, and has installed smart grid technology across the entire utility infrastructure. In 2004 Mary was recognized by Fast Company magazine as one of the "top 50 fast leaders" in the U.S., and in 2014 was recognized by Powergen as the Woman of the Year.
